Everyone likes to eat chips, and it is one of the popular snacks consumed by many people worldwide, including children. A bowl of chips will surely attract every person, irrespective of age. Even though most people like to eat chips, some fear they might have a harmful impact on the body. But, actually, it is some potatoes, oil, and seasoning, and nothing dangerous is found in it. You can eat chips every day as many times as you want, but the only problem is that you will gain weight (excess weight and fat quickly).  in this blog post, we’ll discuss the healthy alternatives to chips that you must know.

A pack of chips (usually considered one serving) contains around 160 to 200 calories, 10 to 11 grams of fat, 15 to 18 grams of carbohydrates, and around 150 or more milligrams of sodium. Some studies and research have also shown that potato chips can contribute to more weight gain than any other food item. So, you must take a moderate amount of chips and try other healthy alternatives to chips to prevent excess weight gain. Here are some details regarding some of the alternative snacks you can consume instead of chips to maintain a healthy diet and weight.

Why should you not take excess chips?

No one likes an unhealthy body, with excess weight and related problems. It is found that a lot of people are taking chips, more than one serving per day. You must know that chips are considered junk food, which you should only take moderately. Studies and research have found some side effects of eating more chips daily. Chips contain high sodium levels; thus, they will easily increase high blood pressure, cause hypertension, and destabilize the body’s sodium levels. It contains a good amount of cholesterol, so consuming excess chips can eventually lead to heart problems and strokes. Apart from all these, it can cause instant weight gain with poor nutrition.

Some of the healthy alternatives to chips

There is no one in this world who does not like to have a crispy or crunchy snack, especially while watching movies. Most people eat a lot of snacks while watching a movie and will have no idea how much they have consumed. Simply salted popcorn

Popcorn is a healthy snack and one of the best healthy alternatives to chips. Just like chips, popcorns are also tasty and contain whole-grain goodness. Popcorn is found to have a low-calorie content (1 cup of popcorn has only 31 calories, while 1 cup of chips contains around 137 calories). Even though you eat more popcorn, its high fiber and satiety will help you lose weight. Thus, it is considered a healthy snack that helps you lose weight but will make you full.

    Kale chips

Kale chips are another healthy snack you can consume instead of chips or crackers. Even though they might not provide the same taste level as potato chips, they are delicious and more nutritious (3 times more) than chips. Kale is a green-colored rigid vegetable with a high percentage of iron, calcium, antioxidants, and plenty of other vitamins and nutrients. Thus, it is a completely healthy snack and is free from fat and sodium. Thus, there is no need to worry about side effects like the ones caused by chips. Apart from that, you can make kale chips at home by adding the necessary salt and olive oil to change the flavor. So, you can control some of the ingredients based on your choice or health.

    Nuts (mixed snack)

As mentioned earlier, consuming more chips will increase unhealthy weight with less nutrition. But nuts, on the other hand, are a healthy snack that will promote a healthy weight and holds good nutritional value. Nuts are available in different delicious flavors; thus, you can choose any of them. You can include any mixture of nuts as your snacks, like chipotle and rosemary roasted nuts, peanuts, almonds, cashews, chestnuts, etc.

Eating nuts regularly by including them in a healthy diet will not cause any weight gain, and it is also found to help maintain good weight (also to reduce some weight). It is a healthy alternative to chips which contains a good amount of protein (around 23g or more in one cup) that will help you build muscles rather than just building fat in the body.
